Riverhead Tax Map

Parcel boundaries, tax map numbers, zoning and environmental overlays for all 13,970 parcels in Riverhead, New York. Search an address or click any parcel — free, no account required.

Riverhead sits at the fork of the East End, where the North and South Forks divide, and remains one of the most agricultural towns in Suffolk. Tax map numbers begin with district 0600. Riverhead publishes the most current zoning of any Suffolk town — a 2025 schedule — and is the only town to publish its filed subdivision maps, which show when and how each lot line was created. It is also the only town whose GIS links each zoning district straight to the ordinance text that defines it, so the actual law behind a zone label is one click away.

How to read a Riverhead tax map number

Suffolk County identifies every parcel by a 19-digit Suffolk County Tax Map number (SCTM). It is written in four parts, and each part narrows the location:

District
0600 — the town. Every parcel in Riverhead begins with these four digits.
Section
A numbered map sheet within the town.
Block
A group of parcels on that sheet, usually bounded by streets.
Lot
The individual parcel. Sub-lots appear after the decimal when land is split.

A Riverhead tax map number therefore looks like 0600-123.00-01.00-005.000. Unlike a street address it does not change when the property is sold, which is why deeds, tax bills and assessment records all key on it.

Zoning in Riverhead

Riverhead publishes its zoning districts to a public GIS, so they are mapped here as an overlay. These are the districts covering the most parcels:

Zoning districtShare of sampled parcelsTown ordinance
(RB-80)1,093Read the code
(RA-80)831Read the code
(RA-40)778Read the code
(APZ)291Read the code

Riverhead is the only Suffolk town that publishes a direct link from each zoning district to the ordinance text defining it. Those links come from the Town’s own GIS and open the Riverhead Town Code on eCode360, so you can read the actual permitted uses and dimensional requirements rather than taking a zone label at face value.

Counts are from a sample of Riverhead parcels and show relative scale, not exact totals. Zoning shown here is for orientation — confirm any parcel with the Town of Riverhead before relying on it.

About this data

ParcelIntel is built and operated by Chokdee Properties LLC, a home builder working in Suffolk County. We assembled this map because we needed it ourselves — to check lot lines, zoning and wetlands before committing to a parcel. Parcel geometry comes directly from the Suffolk County tax parcel layer and attributes from nys; nothing here is modelled or estimated.

It is a reference tool, not a survey. Boundaries are as digitised by the County and are not a legal determination of title, buildability or regulatory status. For those, consult the Town of Riverhead and a licensed surveyor.
